Meavy sponsored cycle ride
Summer term brings on a sporting competitive edge which involves the whole school community. Each year Meavy School came together for their annual ‘Meavy School Rockin Bike Ride’. The children cycle 2 mile laps of the Yelverton to Clearbrook cycle track aiming to cycle as far as they could in 2 hours. Many of the younger children in reception have only just learnt to cycle independently and amazed us all by cycling further than they ever had before! The older children are often determined to cycle the furthest. Despite this drive to complete the most laps the spirit of the ride is incredible with pupils all supporting and helping each other, performing running repairs on lost chains and scuffed knees, older children guiding the little ones, all with smiles and good humour. The children raised many pounds for the school. That total doesn’t count the poor parents who were running and riding in a desperate attempt to keep up. A huge thank you to Rockin Bikes in Yelverton for supporting the event and to Meavy PTA for organising it each year.
