Acorn Class – Foundation Stage/Year 1

Welcome to Acorn Class 2021/2022!

“We are looking forward to sharing our adventures with you!”

Each day the children have lots of opportunities to explore, imagine, create and learn through their own play as well time with an adult to learn new skills and knowledge and apply these through practical play based activities. Wherever possible our planning will take account of the children’s developing interests.

We want to encourage the children to become independent learners and thinkers.

Their learning is focused around the three prime areas and four specific areas of the Early Years Curriculum.

These are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical development
  • Literacy
  • Maths
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Spring Term 2022

Welcome back. This term our topic is Dinosaurs and Dragon and we have lots of exciting learning opportunities for the children. Please click on the topic web below for more detail.

This week, we have been celebrating World Book Day. The children have written 'Guess who?' pieces of writing, created story maps of a maths book and designed their own animal masks. The children absolutely loved coming into school dressed as an animal on Thursday.

We have been so busy learning and having fun in Acorn Class. Have a look at the photos to see what we have been up to.

This half term, Acorn Class has been working on the art topic, 'Animal Art'. Over the weeks, the children have  'travelled' to each of the seven continents and have learnt about the animals that live there. Each week, the children have created a piece of art work using one of the animals that they have learnt about. Please have a look at the slideshow below to see their fantastic artwork.

We have had great fun doing new PE activities this week. On Wednesday we learnt a dance in the school hall using the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. On Friday we learnt how to play cricket in the playground.
